Ayotzinapa case. Order of formal imprisonment issued against general

A federal judge issued a formal arrest warrant against the Brigadier General Jose Rodriguez Perez for his alleged responsibility in the crime of organized crimein its modality of crimes against health, for its alleged relationship with the Guerreros Unidos criminal group, an organization responsible for the disappearance of the 43 normalistas from Ayotzinapa.

Enrique Beltrán Santes, Second District Judge for Federal Criminal Proceedings in the State of Mexico, also subjected Captain José Martínez Crespo and Sergeant Eduardo Mota Esquivel to criminal proceedings for their probable responsibility in the crimes of forced disappearance and organized crime.

In interview with MILLENNIUMthe lawyer Alejandro Robledo Carretero, who collaborates in the defense of the four soldiers, indicated that “it is very easy to issue a formal prison order when the judge of the case hides the arrest warrant from you alleging secrecy”, an argument, which he said, ” it is false”, because his client has the right to know what he is being accused of.

The litigant made it clear that José Rodríguez was not accused because of what the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Alejandro Encinas Rodríguez, has said publicly, who assured that the general allegedly ordered the murder and disappearance of six of the 43 students, who are believed to have kept alive four days after the attack by the Guerreros Unidos criminal group on September 26 and 27, 2014 in Iguala, Guerrero.

The night of the disappearance of the normalistas, on September 26, José Rodríguez Pérez had the rank of Colonel and was the commander of the 27th Infantry Battalion in Iguala.

According to statements by students injured after the attack by gunmen and policemen, the colonel was in charge of the military personnel who dedicated themselves to “photographing” them inside a clinic in Iguala.

Last week the military command agreed to his delivery. Elements of the Federal Ministerial Police, of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) were in charge of completing the arrest warrant.

Rodríguez Pérez remains in the prison of Military Camp 1-A, from where he followed the hearing by videoconference, like the other soldiers.

It is worth mentioning that Captain Martínez Crespo has been detained since 2020, due to the alleged crime of organized crime; the new arrest warrant was served in prison.

Last August, the FGR notified the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) about 20 arrest warrants that the federal judge issued against commanders and troops of the 27th and 41st Infantry battalions, so that it proceeded to locate its personnel and present it. .

In the report of the Commission for Truth and Access to Justice (COVAJ), it is also mentioned that General Alejandro Saavedra Hernández, based in Chilpancingo, was one of the operational links to develop the investigation of the normalistas.

For his part, Infantry Lieutenant Francisco Macías Barbosa, of the 27th Infantry Battalion, was the soldier’s immediate command. Julio Cesar Lopez Patolzinwho was infiltrated in the Rural Normal School “Raúl Isidro Burgos” of Ayotzinapa.

“Julio César López Patolzin was disappeared along with the normalist students.
