Cuba reports 13 new cases of COVID-19

At the close of this September 20, 13 people were positive for COVID-19 in Cuba, after taking 1,869 samples for surveillance on the day, reported the Ministry of Public Health in its usual statement.

The country accumulates 14,136,205 samples carried out and 1,111,080 positive since the beginning of the disease.

Yesterday 142 patients were admitted: 63 suspected and 79 confirmed active. Of the latter, 76 maintained a stable clinical evolution (96.2%) and three patients were reported seriously ill. Also, there were 27 medical discharges, with which the country accumulates 1,102,412.

Since the start of the pandemic, 8,530 deaths have been recorded (no deaths reported yesterday)for a lethality of 0.77% (1.06% in the world and 1.59% in the Americas).

Of the total cases (13):

  • 13 were contacts of confirmed cases.
  • Nine correspond to the female sex and four to the male sex.
  • Three asymptomatic cases were reported on the day, with which 147,489 patients with this condition have accumulated since the start of the pandemic (13.27% of those confirmed).
  • By age groups: under 20 years old (7), from 20 to 39 years old (4), from 40 to 59 years old (1) and over 60 years old (1).

Sancti Spiritus: 3 cases

  • Cabaiguán: 2 (contacts of confirmed cases)
  • Sancti Spíritus: 1 (contact of confirmed cases)

Las Tunas: 2 cases

  • Puerto Padre: 1 (contact of confirmed cases)
  • Jobabo: 1 (contact of confirmed cases)
