Dengue cases in the Piura region continue to increase, which has generated concern in the health sector authorities. Given this increase, the Regional Director of Health (Diresa), Fernando Agüero Mijareported that the region needs S/ 10 million to combat this disease.
He pointed out that this money, in addition to the Opening Institutional Budget, It will allow good control of the vector, in order to avoid an epidemic of dengue cases in the summer, “As Diresa, we need money to cover, above all, prevention and health promotion. In this way, prevent an increase in cases from being reported, ”she specified.
The doctor explained that, in order to carry out the preventive work, it is necessary to hire more personnel to go to the houses to verify that mosquitoes are not breeding, and to carry out a epidemiological evaluation. “We need more personnel to visit the homes to verify that water is not stored and, as a result, the breeding sites of the dengue-transmitting mosquito are formed,” he asserted.
