“I can only say…”: Shakira answered if she dedicated “I congratulate you” to Gerard Piqué

Shakira broke her silence and spoke for the first time about her breakup with Gerard Piqué after 12 years together in an extensive interview with Elle magazine.

The Colombian singer opened her heart and was honest about how these last few months have been after the media break, also referring to how she has lived with her little children, Sasha and Milan.

However, during the conversation with the magazine, the artist was directly consulted about the song “I congratulate you”, which caught the attention of her followers after the breakup was confirmed.

“To complete you I broke into pieces / They warned me but I didn’t listen / I realized that yours is false / It was the straw that overflowed the glass,” says the song at the beginning.

Likewise, Shakira sings in the choir with Rauw Alejandro: “I congratulate you on how well you act / I have no doubt about that / continue with your role / that show looks good on you”.

Many began to speculate that the lyrics of the song were dedicated to Piqué, especially after rumors of infidelity by the footballer began to circulate in the Spanish media.

The song was released in April, so some pointed out that it could fit with a crisis that the couple experienced before publicly revealing their breakup.

When asked about that particular song, Shakira replied that “I can only say that whether consciously or unconsciously, everything I feel, everything I experience, is reflected in the lyrics I write, in the videos I make.”

“It’s my way of being. As I said before, my music is that channel, “added the Colombian.
