Elvis Vergaracongressman from People’s Actionhas filed a constitutional complaint with the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations (SAC) against Patricia Chirinosparliamentarian of Advance Country. The initiative seeks to disqualify the legislator for the exercise of public service for 10 years.
The accusation against the parliamentarian is based on allegedly having broken electoral neutrality. According to the official letter, Chirinos Venegas would have violated the articles 31, 38 and 45 of the Political Constitution of Peru, as well as articles 356 and 400 of the Penal Code.
“On September 15, the parliamentarian Hamlet Echevarria Rodriguez brought to the attention of the Plenary of Congress a video where it is verified that Patricia Chirinos Venegas is carrying out political proselytism in favor of the candidate for mayor of Ventanilla, (…) who is competing for Country advances in these Regional and Municipal Elections 2022 (…). In addition, the defendant expressed her support for Mr. Cluber Aliaga Lodtmannwho is running (…) for the same political party as the defendant”, reads the document dated September 19.
The letter presented by Elvis Vergara ends with a request to the president of the SAC, Lady Camones, to admit the constitutional complaint against Patricia Chirinos-Venegas and thus “give the procedure that corresponds according to the regulations of Congress.”
Patricia Chirinos showed support for candidates
On September 9, Congresswoman Chirinos participated in an event for the campaign of the candidate for mayor of Ventanilla de Avanza País, Angelica Rios. At that meeting, the legislator gave a speech in favor of her election and even presented Bill No. 2225 so that the district candidate can be re-elected if elected.
