According to the first hypotheses, the vehicle was driven by the merchant Germán Lino Segura Franco, a native of San Antonio del Tequendama who was returning from Soacha after visiting his wife and two children.
“He left there at midnight to go back to his house in San Antonio. At this time they do not live together because she works in Bogotá and it is easier for her to be in Soacha, ”a relative of the man told EL TIEMPO.
Versions from the authorities indicate that the owner of a restaurant in that tourist area was accompanied by another person, whose identity is not yet known.
Regarding the version of a possible suicide, his relative ruled it out, and pointed out that Gerardo Segura did not have any symptoms of this pathology. “I think if he had depression problems we would have noticed. He spoke with his brother the night before and was excited about various events scheduled for the weekend.”

However, he believes that the high speed could have been one of the causes of what he considers an accident. “The workers who were in the area told us that it was going down very fast,” he added.
On Wednesday night, firefighters from Soacha and Cundinamarca work to recover the body of the merchant and the person who apparently accompanied him. “We have found an area of difficult access,” they indicated.
The Traffic Police ruled out that the vehicle had entered the abyss in reverse, as was speculated. “On the site we did not find traces of braking. It is a vehicle that in the early hours of the morning was being driven by a man who apparently makes the decision or loses consciousness and falls asleep, but for now everything is a matter of investigation,” said Lieutenant Jairo Murcia, head of the sectional of Transit and Transport of Soacha.
