Together for Peru defines its candidate for Lima, Gonzalo Alegría | POLITICS

The match Together for Peru (JP) distanced himself last Tuesday from his candidate for mayor of Lima, Gonzalo Joyafter the Nativa channel reported on the existence of a police complaint against him for psychological and sexual violence, allegedly carried out by his son at the Orrantia police station, in San Isidro, in March 2021.

The National Ethics and Discipline Committee of JP stated in a statement that Alegría registered as a militant only because it is a requirement to run for mayor.

The group affirmed that Alegría does not participate in the partisan life of JP, but rather “limits himself to developing his specifically electoral campaign.”

In addition, he publicly requested the candidate to submit his defenses in a documented manner, in order to then make the “corresponding decisions.”

Meanwhile, congresswomen Isabel Cortez, Ruth Luque and Sigrid Bazán, from the Democratic Change-Together for Peru caucus, urged JP to take action against Alegría.

“Those of us who are the visible faces of the organization cannot remain silent”Cortez acknowledged via Facebook.

The legislator added that she will ask the party’s leadership to “carry out the corresponding sanctions.”

Luque described as unacceptable that Alegría is the candidate for JP with this background, and added that the party must assume its responsibility.

Finally, Bazán said that JP must “take actions according to the seriousness of the matter.”

Alegría denied having psychologically and sexually violated her son. “Pathetic that my political competitors reach that level of lowliness, because there is a dignity of people. I am clean of dust and chaff,” she told Latina.

Then, via Twitter, he pointed out that the police report that accounts for the alleged complaint is false.

Alegría lost her temper yesterday in an interview with the journalist Milagros Leiva, in Willax.

The candidate assured that the complaint against him “is a disgusting set-up” and that today he will prove it with evidence.
